The programming offered at the Positive Community Development is entirely focused around community and having a lasting positive impact. The benefits gained from a comprehensive set of programs are boundless as each experience brings positivity to oneself and those around them. We believe to bring social, cultural and economic development through innovative and needs-based programs which will be act of sharing, contributing, and acceptance.

Arts & Culture

An ongoing set of programs that aim to foster learning through the arts, music, and culture. We are open to all ages and offer variety of programs that enables anyone to expand their views and become connected and engaged. The programs will reduce isolation of seniors, involve youth in civic engagement and facilitate training for women for their skills development.

Regular shows are presented throughout the year, each with their own style and backgrounds. When we enjoy music together, we not only advance the public’s appreciation of the music but create community.

Heritage Festival:

For residents, community members and all to have the necessary support services and resources in life to learn, grow, and succeed together as one community.

Exchange Program:

Expand your mind through the Exchange Program that pairs you with an art form, music genre, or culture you aren’t familiar with. To create community through differences the program enables people to share their stories while gaining knowledge and mentorship support.

Cooking

Newcomer Women’s Cooking Program

This is a social enterprise program that employs newcomer women to cook the amazing foods from their heritage and cater community events. This provides them with employment opportunity, and to showcase their artistic love for cooking. Women also get the opportunity to receive Food Handling Certification. Please contact us for you would like your next Board Meeting OR Community Event to be catered by us.

Newcomer Women Entrepreneurship Exposition

The Entrepreneurship Expo brings together women from Humber Summit and neighbouring communities to showcase their Entrepreneurship skills. This provides opportunity for women to network, showcase their brilliant work and collaborate with residents and diverse stakeholders

Youth Programs

We offer various programs that enable youth to become an active member of their community through the development of crucial life skills.

Leadership Lessons:

A consistent program that encourages personal growth through self-confidence exercises, volunteer placement opportunities, and collaboration with others to create a lasting impact.

Career Coaching:

A program to aid in the development and advancement of the vocational abilities of youth through a set curriculum; including resume writing, computer skills, and employment counselling.

Summer Youth:

An annual Summer Camp carried out to implement the life skills learned throughout the year in a lively environment, through team building, recreational activities, and a consistent social schedule.

Seniors Circle

A meeting place for seniors to feel accepted and empowered while being a part of a community. The Circle offers various daily recreational activities and other regular social gatherings to aid those who have experienced social isolation and loneliness.

Health Hub:

A place for seniors to gather and learn about the various remedies and cures for common ailments. With a focus on nutrition and exercise seniors are encouraged to experiment with new wellness trends.

Recreation activities:

A space to encourage social interaction through various games and activities. With the option to join teams, leagues, or perhaps drop in whenever you have the time.

Work-force Integration Program

Our program addresses local and national priorities such as Needs Assessment, Information and Orientation and Support Services towards workforce to addresses specialized curriculum for youth and refugee youth under Ontario Region along with women, newcomers and seniors.

The Need Assessment and Referral Services provide a comprehensive needs assessment of all the clients, develop a customized personal plan and help them to achieve their job-placement in a timely manner. The program provides seamless referral services to, employment related and community connection services including community resources;

Volunteering Opportunities

Join us in supporting others while gaining the personal growth necessary for success. In an effort to relieve poverty by providing the resources necessary to those individuals and/or families who are poor, of low income or in need volunteering benefits not only the community but the volunteer themselves. With many different options to choose from based on your time, ability, and interests there is something for everyone. We believe volunteering acts as a tool to learn about society and oneself as a collective. We can’t wait to work with you.

Youth Leader:

Become a Youth Leader who aids in the Youth Programming through mentorship. By garnering relationships with the youth groups, the mentees gain valuable role models and you can support those in need.

Senior Support:

Support in any of the Seniors Circle programs to bridge the age gap. We believe community should have no age limit.
